Who is Philicia Baugh?
Inspirational and Leadership Speaker
Philicia Baugh's journey is a testament to resilience and dedication. At 15, she faced the daunting challenge of teenage pregnancy, which could have easily derailed her life. Instead, she defied the odds, transforming adversity into a platform for advocacy and empowerment. With over 25 years of parenting experience, she champions safe space parenting, courageous leadership, women’s empowerment, and education. Philicia is a certified mediator and Board-Certified Human Service Practitioner with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services, a Master of Science in Criminal Justice and Criminology, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership.
In 2005, a journey to Mexico to study Liberation Theology with the Benedictine Sisters ignited her passion for yoga, leading her to become a certified Yoga Instructor and Sound Healer. Philicia's dedication to helping others led her to open South Carolina's first transitional home for homeless mothers with newborns. Her efforts earned her recognition as one of the Top Forty Professionals Under 40 in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2010, and again in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in 2020.
Philicia's influence extends beyond her local community. She delivered a powerful tribute to her oldest son, Isaiah, at the Listen to Your Mother event in 2015, which went viral with over 10 million views. In 2019, she served as the Keynote Speaker at the DOZ Live Inspiration Conference in London. Her professional career includes roles as a Legal Analyst for a Fortune 500 Company, Chief Public Relations Officer for a large nonprofit, and leadership positions in primary and higher education.
In 2024, Philicia was honored as a Woman of Impact by the American Heart Association. She owns and operates the Baugh Agency LLC, a public relations and communication firm, while also working as a mortgage lender, real estate investor, and entrepreneur. Living in South Carolina, she is a dedicated mother of four young adults and a grandmother of three. Philicia continues to inspire through her involvement with nonprofit boards. In her bonus time, she loves traveling, reading, and practicing yoga.
